Our story

The journey of Oraoo began years ago with a close friend facing a nerve-wracking moment—meeting his girlfriend’s parents for the first time. Naturally shy and soft-spoken, he was anxious about the occasion. At the time, I was pursuing an MA in Fine Art at the University of the Arts London, with a deep passion for metalwork. Inspired by his unease, I crafted a ring and a brooch using pearls and cubic zirconia. Perhaps it was the encouragement he felt, or maybe the jewelry truly boosted his confidence—either way, he returned elated. The meeting went smoothly, and his girlfriend’s mother even complimented his accessories. I was thrilled for him.

This sparked a series of similar endeavors. I designed elegant earrings for a friend starting her career, helping her shine during presentations. For a young mother overwhelmed by daily chores and neglectful of her own style, my jewelry reignited her radiant self in the mirror. When a friend’s parents approached their 10th anniversary without a diamond ring, I created an affordable yet stunning ring that brought back the joy of their wedding day to her face.

My cousin, working in international trade, later suggested, “Why not form a team?” She envisioned sharing these pieces globally, making them accessible to those in need. That’s how this independent website came to be. We named our brand Oraoo, where “Ora” draws from “aura” (meaning a radiant glow), and the two “o’s” symbolize two perfect pearls.

One unforgettable client stands out. One day, an order arrived with a note to send materials. Opening the package, I found two human teeth. He explained they held extraordinary meaning—teeth from his late wife, extracted during a visit when he accompanied her, a memento of his deep love. After her unexpected passing, these teeth became his eternal keepsake. Touched by his trust and the weight of his story, I designed a tooth ring with silver and emerald. When he received it, I saw tears in the eyes of this outwardly strong man.

Though such clients are rare—most orders come without stories—I know my small creations travel worldwide, sparkling in every corner and empowering people to shine in various occasions. This is my passion and pride.
